Sunday, June 12, 2011 // WC-3 Duisburg and Europeans, Belgrade

Last world cup for the season. I had plans on doing K1 500m as well as K1 1000m, but after a disapointing performance at wc-2 I decided just to do K1 1000m.  I also wanted to try a different race plan and see if I could manage to race with even or negativ 500m splits on the 1000m. I managed to stick with the plan and had a good race. I’ll do some more testing at the Europeans before I decide how I will race at Worlds. Rene Poulsen was dissapointed after wc-2 with his time not making it into the top 10 list, but after his victory at wc-3 there was no doubt. Congratz Rene! After wc-3 I had an easy week and this week has been hard. Looking forward to race in Belgrade, never been there but heard so many nice things about the course and the city. This weekend we had a national regatta on Årungen outside Oslo. I was supposed to race against Oyvind Solberg for the K1 5000m spot at Europeans, but he didn’t show due to injury and I got the spot on walk over. My sponsors, ESSVE and Thaugland, gave a brand new Nelo Vanquish III SCS to the best junior, Eivind Vold, this weekend.
