Friday, July 30, 2010 // The race

Sean Rice won as he wanted and I came 3rd. Fredrik Ness, the local guy came 2nd. It was difficult conditions, not because it was crazy big, but a lot of return waves from shore. I went together with Sean the first 2k, but as soon as we hit the open ocean he went away from me. Just before the turning point a thunder storm came out of nowhere, and the lightning struck everywhere. I decided to go to shore and wait until it was safe again. I waited around 20min before I went out again and the coastguard sendt their rib to pick me up, no need for that when the lightning was gone. While I was on land I could see the lightning struck into the sea, it was crazy. I had a good race in the downwind and felt rested after my tour on land. The prize money were 3000, 1500, 1000 Euro for 1,2,3 both men and women. It was a good organized event and I will get back next year. My Nelo ski was perfect and Fredrik used the Nelo Vintage Ski. It was his first time in a ski and he liked the Nelo. I’ll post some pictures later, now I have to drive 20h to get home. Picture from prize giving ceremony.

Monday, July 26, 2010 // Artic Sea Kayak Race

Last ferry to reach Vesterålen. Crossed the Artic circle earlier today, no time for picture since it was important to get this ferry. Yes, it is snow you see in the background, and yes it is summer…The race is on friday, 30k.

The Norwegian summer is the best when it finally arrive! Sun, swimming, fishing, eating crabs, boating and kayaking is summer for me. I’m paddling a 8k touring race tomorrow and I’ve been relaxing at Mira’s grandparents summer residence for the last days. Life is good!

Saturday, July 10, 2010 // Summer in Flekkefjord

My hometown Flekkefjord is the place to be during summer. Perfect conditions for both K1 paddling and surfski. Two sessions on the water today, not used to that so pretty tired. Did some fishing in the evening and stopped when we had enough for dinner, can’t get it much fresher than this! I also saw a seal, pretty cool.
